Unsaved - Soul dominates, strives for superiority, selfish, the bible describes the 'heart' of man as being naturally wicked. Moral behavior is learned and 'good people do good things' - but there is no rebirth and transformation.

Saved - Spirit is reborn - Spirit of Christ inhabits (Romans 8:10), Word of God starts to divide soul from spirit, eternal life is given (a free gift from God) - there can be much struggle to transform the mind.

Saved/Baptized by the Holy Spirit - Holy Spirit inhabits and leads (Romans 8:11), with His help divine inspiration is received and the Word of God manifests, renews the mind and changes the mortal flesh (body)
