If you don't already have a personal relationship with Jesus, you probably don't understand why in the world we need a savior. I will try and keep scripture (the Bible) out of this simple explanation. So, here goes ...

A long, long time ago a super intelligence outside the universe (He must be outside it, to create it in the first place!) decided He wanted to create a family. He created Mankind on a planet called Earth - which, by the way is PERFECTLY placed in the whole universe to support intelligent life. Now, you can believe that you originated from the sea as a heap of slime - but I am a thinking being, aware of my emotions, my own intelligence and able to create stuff around me to make myself more comfortable - and stay warm. In fact, I have a body, a soul (mind, will and emotions) and a spirit - PLUS I was given a FREE WILL to make my own choices.

So humor me, and let's agree an intelligence created life in the one perfect spot in the whole universe where it could thrive and be successful - God exists - Thank You!!  We were given authority over the systems and things of the planet with a limited number of "Don't do's". Well, did we listen? The human race rebelled against God - because we chose not to live life as He directed (which, by the way, He was uniquely positioned to know, as He created us). So, God turned away from this close, cozy family relationship He had with His creation and we were left to "fend for ourselves". Boy, did we make a mess! Famine, wars, selfish greed, murder, jealousy, thoughts of revenge and many other things that our rebellious hearts could conceive. So, the point is - you don't have to be a wicked person to be a "sinner", you were simply born into the human race which distanced itself and separated itself from its Creator.  Separation from God means an eternity of evil and torment for our soul. That is the price to be paid for the rebellion! Hence the need for a Savior - or a "rescue" in order to be reconnected with God and live a life that is full of joy, prosperity, good health (God doesn't give anybody sickness!) and is eternal - that means your spirit will never die. Jesus is our "rescue" - He has paid the price for each of us. However, YOU must make your choice, out of your own free will, as to whether you want to participate in this rescue operation!

In fact, truth be told, no spirit will never die - even without God. If there is no re-connection with God then you have made a choice to support the rebellion! There is no "sitting on the fence" on this issue. So, which side to you support? Those who have chosen not to be "rescued" will be in torment for all eternity and will remain separated from God. We call this hell! People that accept Jesus and permit Him to lead their lives will spend eternity in some other kind of bodily form in Heaven - where it's a whole lot nicer. Those who choose to follow Jesus are not perfect but have made the decision to be rescued and are "in training" to be better people and live as Jesus directs. We become saved because we have aligned our lives with God and His directions for a good life.

Anyway, this is the gist of things ... and it is all laid out, plain truth for all to grasp, in the Bible. You need to get a good friend who can explain it all to you and show you where to start your investigation!!

ps - Jesus was really God with a covering of flesh who came down to earth to save His own creation .. WOW!!!

Seriously - look it up! You owe it to yourself to investigate this thing! Your eternity stands on what you know - and who you know!
